Community Development


An inclusive initiative fostering social cohesion between refugee and host populations through collaborative projects. The program is designed to create spaces for mutual learning and shared experiences. It aims to transform neighborhoods through culturally vibrant, refugee-led improvements. The program's goal is to build communities where diversity becomes a source of collective strength.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT INCLUDES:

1. Multilingual Community Centers

  • Operating neighborhood hubs that offer event space, social services, and cultural programming in multiple languages
  • Staffing centers with both refugees, asylees, and long term residents to foster inclusion and shared leadership

2. Skills Exchange Networks

  • Facilitating reciprocal learning where refugees and asylees share traditional crafts, cooking, or art
  • Providing training in local technology, job skills, language learning, and civic engagement

3. Community Leadership Development

  • Supporting refugees and asylees in taking on leadership roles within their neighborhoods and advocacy efforts
  • Offering workshops and mentorship to build confidence, public speaking skills, and community organizing capacity

4. Collaborative Projects & Initiatives

  • Promoting collaborative community projects such as public art installations, neighborhood cleanups, or mutual aid programs
  • Strengthening social cohesion through initiatives led jointly by refugees, asylees, and local residents
